Qi gong is one modality of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) believed to be at least 4,000 years-old making it the oldest chronicled medical system in the world. In Mandarin Chinese, Qi gong means breath work/technique. Qi gong is the art of managing the breath to achieve and maintain good health, and especially in the martial arts, to enhance the leverage and stamina of the body in coordination with the physical process of respiration. It includes exercises that are designed to heal the body, calm the mind, and connect with spirit.
